Nina Dobrev and Ellen Page are reportedly joining together for a remake of “Flatliners.”
A Variety report said that the 1990 thriller “Flatliners” is set to have a remake with former “The Vampire Diaries” actress and “Freeheld” star Ellen Page. The duo will also work alongside Diego Luna.
Sony’s “Flatliners” originally involved a group of medical students who conducted experiments of “near death” tragedies. However, the consequences of their experiments have bounced back on them.
A report from Entertainment Weekly, which also confirmed the remake, said that the 27-year-old actress Nina Dobrev will play as one of the medical students Marlo. Her character is described as the overachiever in the group.
The specific roles of Ellen Page and Diego Luna are still not confirmed as of press time, but speculation arise that they will be part of the group of medical students.
Filming of “Flatliners” is set to start by early July, with Ben Ripley as screenwriter and Laurence Mark as producer. The movie will also be co-produced by Michael Douglas.
After bidding her goodbye in the hit teen show “The Vampire Diaries,” Nina Dobrev was previously seen in “Final Girls” and “Let’s Be Cops.” The Canadian-Bulgarian actress had also appeared in “The Roommate” and “The Perks of Being A Wallflower” with Emma Watson.
Aside from the “Flatliners” remake, Ian Somerhalder’s ex-girlfriend is set to work on “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage,” with “Furious 8” actor Vin Diesel, and the comedy “Crash Pad.”
Meanwhile, Ellen Page, who rose to fame in her role for “Juno,” and “Inception,” was recently lauded for her role in “Freeheld” with Julianne Moore.
