After Kim Kardashian, it’s Nicki Minaj. Social media and smartphones are the best way to connect with people. These platforms have given celebrities more exposure and the chance to get in touch with their fans directly.
As well know, celebrities grab every opportunity to claim fame. Considering the popularity of gaming, especially on smartphones, these stars have started giving complete attention to these latest trends.
Scheduled to release in 2016, Nicki Minaj will launch her own game together with Glu Mobile, the same developer who worked on the gaming app “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood.”
While speaking about the association, Niccolo de Masi, the CEO of Glu, said, “I am thrilled to welcome the undisputed queen of hip-hop, Nicki Minaj, to Glu’s growing list of celebrity partners. Nicki brings to Glu her audience of over 100 million* social followers and a new music category. We look forward to combining Nicki’s distinctive style and massive global appeal with Glu’s celebrity social gaming expertise.”
Where celebrities are all set to compete with each other virtually, Glu is the company that seems to have become a superstar overnight after “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood” earned millions of dollars as royalty. The game is also said to have been on Apple’s 15 top grossing apps.
The company is also in talks with actor Jason Statham.
What’s Next in Store for Glu?
The company is now looking forward to tie up with celebrities who have enormous fan following on social media, as more the number of fans, the better it is to pull traffic to the game and become popular overnight.
While explaining the same, the CEO said, “The reason we are working with people that have 100 million social followers is they can effectively generate their own awareness. We think that builds a lot more stability to Glu’s business long-term.”
Celebrity gaming apps look promising and is something that will generate revenue for developers and at the same time also entertain the fans of the stars.
