What does “Omaha” mean? It was a mystery till Sunday. Reggie Wayne has solved it, finally.
Peyton Manning’s “Omaha” audible was NFL’s most famous pre-snap ritual. Omaha also made its way to commercials and SNL sketches due to its popularity.
Thanks to Reggie Wayne, it’s no longer an enigma. As a player of Indianapolis Colts, Wayne has answered Manning’s passes for eleven years. So, he is a reliable source, no doubt.
“Omaha means he’s going the other way.” Reggie said while speaking to NFL Network. When asked to elaborate, he continued, “If it’s a run to the right, if it’s ‘Dive right,’ Omaha is going to be ‘Dive left’.”
NFL Network crews erupted after listening to the hidden truth. Mystery solved? No. Still, there’s a twist in the tale. Is Reggie trying to misguide the whole of America, and misdirect all defenses Peyton Manning shall face in the future as a mole? Kurt Warner warned about that.
Or are we going to hear a new audible from Manning?
