With five weeks to go before release, a new still from 20th Century Fox’s upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse was released. Fox will also release a full-length trailer allegedly coinciding with the premiere of Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War.
According to Screen Rant, the still from Apocalypse shows Scott Summers and Jean Grey, played by Tye Sheridan and Sophie Turner, in an intense scene. It shows Jean using her telekinetic powers to focus Scott’s powerful optical beams to an unseen target.
Aside from the still, fans are anticipating the final trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse, with many of them worried that Wolverine will not be a part of the film. Hugh Jackman’s adamantium-clawed mutant has been featured in every X-Men film to date. Many are wondering if X-Men: Apocalypse will continue to do so, considering the fact that Wolverine 3, which is the next X-Men film to be released, is the last time Jackman will play the part.
In an article by Movie Pilot, they listed possible moments that could be featured in the trailer. Aside from the obvious romance between Jean Grey and Scott Summers and Wolverine’s appearance, they predict the trailer will feature what happened to Magneto, since at the beginning of Apocalypse, he is shown to be living as a factory worker in Poland. It is unknown what drove Magneto to seclusion, and if Apocalypse will persuade him to join and fight for his cause.
The other plausible moments concern Mystique, who might conclude her journey as the reboot ends, and additional details about Quicksilver, whose display of his powers makes his Age of Ultron version look like a sham.
With the trailer set to be released early this May, many questions about the film may be answered and possibly add more to the hype for the third biggest superhero movie this year.
X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled to be released in theaters this May 27, 2016.
