Spike Lee’s “Chiraq” now has a new trailer a month ahead of its release. The trailer in question is bold, showing the essence of the movie.
The film is based on the Greek comedy “Lysistrata.” The women go for a strike, though not the general one. They choose to go for a sex strike, allowing men no access and no entrance to their bodies.
The trailer in question starts with a message, “This is an emergency,” repeated three times. This is followed by the story of women who decide to prohibit sex to men. They do that with the pledge, “I will deny rights of access and entrance.”
The women in the movie deprive their husbands and boyfriends of sex in order to stop the violence that prevails. This was roughly the theme of the Greek comedy. The stars in the movie are Samuel L. Jackson, Wesley Snipes, Nick Cannon, Dave Chappelle, Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett, Sasha Go Hard, and John Cusack.
The official plot synopsis mentions, “After the murder of a Child by a stray bullet, a group of women led by Lysistrata organize against the on-going violence in Chicago’s Southside creating a movement that challenges the nature of race, sex, and violence in America and around the world.”
The trailer itself features Jackson, Cannon and Cusack along with Teyonah Paris who plays the main character Lysistrata. “Chiraq” will have a limited release on December 4. It will be in theaters and in Amazon Instant Video soon.
