New ‘Game of Thrones’ Theory: Bran Stark May Be Behind Robert’s Rebellion

“Game of Thrones” season 6 has spawned a new wave of fan theories even though the show is just on its 3rd episode. After the “Jon Snow is a Targaryen” theory gained steam, Brandon Stark is now caught in a new bombshell fan theory: Bran caused Robert’s Rebellion.

According to Movie Pilot, a fan theory claims that Bran Stark has caused a ripple the fabric of time after he called out to his father in one of his visions. In the last episode “Oathbreaker” he watched Eddard Stark battle Ser Arthur Dayne during Robert’s Rebellion.

After Dayne was defeated with the help of Howland Reed, Eddard heard a scream from the nearby Tower of Joy. Curious, Bran proceeded to Ned follow but was stopped by the Three-Eyed Raven telling him that he has seen enough. He calls out to his father before being brought out of the vision.

According to the ‘Game of Thrones‘ fan theory posted on Reddit, this is where it went south pretty quickly. After calling out to his father, a confused Eddard Stark turns around and sees nothing there. Bran Stark believes that his father heard him but the Raven says otherwise and tells him that history cannot be rewritten,

Thinking that the people in his visions can hear him he tries to reason with the Mad King Aerys Targaryen when he threatened to burn his uncle and grandfather. Unfortunately, for him the truth is they can only hear whispers of him, you see where they are going with this right?

Aerys II Targaryen was known as the mad king precisely because he burned people because “the voices in his head” told him to. The theory suggests that it is Bran Stark who is behind those voices and the one who told Aerys to burn Lord Rickard and his son Brandon Stark. The act inevitably sparked Robert’s Rebellion which ended the Targaryen dynasty.

With the story ‘Game of Thrones’ already full of twists and turns, it takes a special kind of devotion to think of such scenarios. Whether this proves true or not, we’ll have to follow how the show develops on HBO.
