Jimmy Garoppolo has proven to be a good substitute for the suspended Tom Brady with the New England Patriots but he could be relegated to backup once the 39-year-old veteran returns.
So now the question is how the New England Patriots can hold on to Garoppolo after proving himself a worthy quarterback that could start for any team?
Rather than end up with nothing, the New England Patriots could explore the market for a potential trade. It may not be an alarming move for Bill Belichick but the fact remains that Garoppolo’s stock has skyrocketed and gained the attention of multiple teams.

Jimmy Garoppolo for Drew Brees
One team that the New England Patriots can deal with are the New Orleans Saints. The only logical player they could deal for is Drew Brees to ensure that they have a backup quarterback on standby.
The only hitch is that Brees is no spring chicken. At 37, the New England Patriots will end up having two quarterbacks in the twilight of their careers.
Brees did sign an extension good until the end of the 2017 NFL season with the Saints but adding an older guy to replace a budding player like Garoppolo may not be a good head-on trade.
Brees is a prolific passer, something that the New England Patriots could be looking at. The Saints could benefit, seeing that they get a rookie who has a lot of potential in Garoppolo. But for the deal to go down, it may require the addition of future picks to sweeten the pot.
Dealing Garoppolo may not be a priority for now but once Brady is back to full active duty, expect teams to come asking for the rookie and what the New England Patriots would want in return.
If not, the New England Patriots could end up sticking with Garoppolo. But will he play behind Brady until the controversial quarterback calls it quits?
