Nepal Earthquake Moved Mt Everest By A Few Centimeters

Mt Everest was moved by the earthquake that shattered Nepal on April 25.

According to the news reports from Xinhuanet, the world’s highest peak has moved 3 centimeters (1.2 inches) when the 7.8 quake happened.

Mt Everest has been moving .3 centimeters Northeast yearly, according to a CNN report. However, April’s earthquake has moved it in the opposite side.

The magnitude 7.8 earthquake that occurred in Nepal killed 17 people, including a Google executive, and prompted the tour companies to halt their operations for the entire year.

The second devastating earthquake that happened on May 12 did not cause any movement in the mountain, state media further elaborated.

Mt Everest’s height, however, remains unchanged.
