Nearly 200 Santas Hit The Slopes For A Good Cause

Santa, Santa, everywhere.

On Sunday, as many as 200 people dressed as Santa Claus hit the ski slopes of Maine.

Although the Santas did not bring gifts, they were seen riding on skis and snowboards as part of an effort to raise money for a local charity.

The event was hosted by Sunday River. Those keen to participate had to donate a minimum of $15 and were allowed to ski for free. Additionally, the participants received a lift ticket good through December 16.

There were a few tumbles, but no serious injuries. “This is the right way to start the holiday season,” Yelena Walsh, who participated in the event, said, as reported by FOX News. “It’s so much fun.”

Walsh added that her technique was to try to race ahead of everybody else. She also engaged in handing out candies to children. “This whole activity, it moves you back to your childhood.”

Everybody had a great time

Another participant said that her technique, in order to prevent any falls or injuries, is to avoid “calamities.”

According to Sunday River spokesman Darcy Lambert, while there were a few “expected” tumbles as last year, “by the looks of it, everybody had a great time and enjoyed the snow.”
