NCIS Gary Glasberg Dead: Chilling End Moments Of Producer

NCIS producer Gary Glasberg, died in his sleep on Wednesday, aged 50. Glasberg, who also produced spin-off NCIS: New Orleans, started off writing comic books and working with Hanna-Barbera Warner Bros., Disney and Nickelodeon.

“Gary was our rock, our cheerleader, our team captain. He inspired us with his leadership, his creative instincts and keen insight,” the Mirror quoted NCIS cast as saying in a statement. “NCIS will not be the same without him, and each of us will miss his smiling face and unwavering humor, which lifted us every day.”

A native of New York, Gary Glasberg entered into drama by early 1990s and joined the staff of such series as CBS’ “L.A. Doctors,” UPN’s “Swift Justice” and “Mercy Point,” and Fox’s “The Street.”

“Today is an overwhelmingly sad day for NCIS, CBS and anyone who was blessed to spend time with Gary Glasberg. We have lost a cherished friend, gifted creative voice, respected leader and, most memorably, someone whose warmth and kindness was felt by all around him,” the CBS Entertainment president Glen Geller said.

In 2001, Glasberg penned down the first of several scripts of NBC’s “Crossing Jordan,” where he eventually became the co-producer. He then served as the co-EP for Fox’s “Bones” and the CBS’ “The Mentalist” and “Shark.”

He joined NCIS in 2009 in Season 7 as a co-EP, but was promoted to the position of EP the following year, the TV Line reported. By Season 9, he was vested with the showrunner’s role by Shane Brennan, who went on to launch NCIS: Los Angeles.

Glasberg is survived by his father Edwin Glasberg, wife screenwriter Mimi Schmir two sons, Dash and Eli, and a sister.

Several NCIS stars took to the social media to express grief and pay respects to Glasberg.

“Our hearts are collectively broken,” NCIS star Pauley Perrette wrote on Twitter. “Our NCIS show runner and boss Gary Glasberg has passed away. In shock and sadness. There are no words.

Actor Rocky Carroll of NCIS tweeted, “We are heartbroken by the sudden loss of our leader and friend Gary Glasberg. To my NCIS family, I wish I was with u on set today.”
