Eric Bledsoe, the Phoenix Suns point guard, could be traded this summer, according to a league source.
Bledsoe missed over 50 games this past season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee last December. In Bledsoe’s absence, the Suns unearthed a dynamic backcourt pairing in Brandon Knight (19.6 ppg, 5.1 apg) and rookie Devin Booker through most of the season.
Devin Booker to become No. 1 option
With Booker expected to be the new franchise player of the Suns, the team could find it difficult to accommodate both Knight and Bledsoe in the starting lineup. There is a feeling within the league that the Suns are forced to trade either Bledsoe or Knight for better on-court chemistry.
Incidentally, both Knight and Bledsoe have suffered a series of injuries over the last few years. Knight has played a total of 63 games over the last few seasons. Bledsoe played a career-high 81 games in 2014-15 but missed a bunch of games through the first three seasons after being drafted in 2010.
Eric Bledsoe pushing for trade?
According to NBA Draft Net, Bledsoe’s agent – Rich Paul – will push for his client to be traded this summer. In such a scenario, the Suns could consider drafting Kris Dunn or Jamaal Murray with the No. 4 pick in Thursday’s draft.
Another PHX rumor: Rich Paul will push to have Eric Bledsoe moved this offseason putting Kris Dunn in play at 4 as well.

Last week, ESPN insider Chad Ford proposed a dynamic three-team trade between the Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks and the Phoenix Suns. Ford’s hypothetical scenario had Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, Mo Williams and Sasha Kaun heading to Phoenix while trading Eric Bledsoe to Cleveland and the haul of Brandon Knight, Alex Len, PJ Tucker, Archie Goodwin and picks Nos. 4 and 13 picks to New York.
Ford justified the questionable trade: “Owner Robert Sarver has been anxious to avoid a total rebuild in Phoenix. This would give him a chance to make a big splash right now. Irving has a higher ceiling than Bledsoe and is two years younger. Love would fill a huge gap at the 4.” Needless to say, some of Phoenix most passionate fans were upset at the trade idea.
Expect Eric Bledsoe or Brandon Knight to be traded this offseason.
