The Philadelphia 76ers are going through their third miserable season. In three consecutive NBA drafts, the Sixers picked three centers. But none could guide the side to winning ways.
Joel Embiid, Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor. Three big men who didn’t rise up to the occasion. Now, what would the Sixers camp do with Okafor? One must remember that Okafor is the highest scorer among the rookies in the NBA, with 17.4 points per game.
The Sixers’ strategy to pick the tallest one didn’t pay off. Embiid is set to sign for Leon Rose, according to sources. Nerlens Noel is incompatible with big counterpart Jahlil Okafor, so one has to go. But why move 20-year-old Okafor, who’s only going through the first year of his career? He has featured in more minutes per game which shows that he is a fitter guy than often injured Noel or Embiid.
The reason is that because Okafor isn’t thrilled being a Sixer. His attitude reveals that he wants to move on. And with his show, Okafor draws more trade interest. And fans are excited about the prospect of getting a good return by trading Okafor in the rebuilding process.
An executive of the franchise pointed out the next step for the Philadelphia Inquirer. “Everything will come down to Joel Embiid. That’s the big question. If Embiid can play, then in my opinion, they will have to trade Okafor, because Embiid and Okafor cannot play together.”
