NBA Trade Rumors: Pau Gasol, Jimmer Fredette To Land In New York Knicks?

Are the Knicks looking for a mentor for Kristaps Porzingis? And is Chicago Bulls’ All-Star big man Pau Gasol considered as the fittest guy for the purpose?

Are the Knicks looking for a mentor for Kristaps Porzingis? And is Chicago Bulls’ All-Star big man Pau Gasol considered as the fittest guy for the purpose? Sources suggest that the Chicago Bulls have offered Pau Gasol to the New York Knicks.

Gasol could hit the open market for an opt-out clause in his contract. The Knicks consider Gasol as a perfect fit to mentor Porzingis and to become Phil Jackson’s player, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post. Gasol is an all-time favorite player of Jackson. The Bulls’ All-Star, a former Laker, has been a resurgent player after joining Chicago.

Jackson made a futile bid for him back in 2014. Gasol got an $8 million deal with the Bulls, though he turned down a bigger deal, while Jackson’s offer was a mid-level $3.5 million.

Jimmer Fredette, who won the MVP of the D-League All-Star game on February 13, is set to get another opportunity in the NBA. The Knicks may sign Fredette. The Knicks will wait till the trade deadline before making a move for him.

Fredette’s agent is dealing with offers from several teams including the Knicks. So it’s a matter of time before Fredette signs for an NBA team.
