Blake Griffin is now a controversial guy in the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers have already shopped their All-Star forward. They are also initiating trade moves to replace the injured Griffin.
Will the Clippers be able to move Griffin ahead of Thursday’s 3:30 deadline? Well, they have started calling shots for that, according to NJ.Com. Griffin broke his hand in January while punching an equipment manager of the Clippers in a Toronto restaurant.
The Clippers shopped Griffin to Denver Nuggets in a six-man trade, eyeing 4 out of 6 top-scorers of Denver, as reported by ESPN writer Chris Broussard. The Nuggets are currently 22-32 in the league.
The Clippers offer Lance Stephenson with Blake Griffin to the Nuggets and demanded Danilo Gallinari, Kenneth Faried, Will Barton and Nikola Jokic. Gallinari is the leading scorer for the Clippers, averaging 19.7, while Barton is second and Faried is the fourth-highest scorer.
Now, what was Denver Nuggets’ response to such an offer? “Denver turned it down because Blake will be a free agent after next season and (the Nuggets) felt like he may leave,” Broussard said reportedly. “Plus, they like some of those young kids, and Jokic they really love.”
Two weeks earlier, Clippers’ owner Steve Balmer first hinted Griffin’s trade. Will the Clippers succeed in moving Griffin ahead of the deadline?
The Portland Trail Blazers also have interest in Griffin, according to Oregon Live, but do they have enough guys in their kitty to entice the Clippers? The Griffin trade still remains uncertain.
