Channing Frye drew trade interest from the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs have made a move for Frye by offering Orlando Magic Anderson Varejao, according to sources.
ESPN’s Marc Stein tweeted that the Cavaliers have pitched Varejao to acquire Channing Frye to improve their roster ahead of the trade deadline. The move is also aimed at preventing the LA Clippers from acquiring Frye. And they have offered Anderson Varejao, both a fan and LeBron James’ favorite.
The Magic is already active ahead of the deadline. They removed Tobias Harris to the Pistons yesterday to acquire Brandon Jennings and Ersan Ilyasova. They may take part in another important deal ahead of the Thursday deadline, according to SB Nation.
The Magic earlier were willing to deal Frye to the Clippers for Lance Stephenson and C.J. Wilcox. But now Frye trade depends on whether the Cavs manage to land Ryan Anderson in a much bigger three-team deal, reports Fansided.
How does one look at the offer? A good one for Cavs indeed. Varejao has been effective in limited stretches for them, but he couldn’t exploit or stretch the floor like Frye.
So Frye’s inclusion will raise the game of Tyronn Lue’s team.
