The Cleveland Cavaliers held preliminary negotiations with the Boston Celtics regarding Kevin Love’s trade. There were rumors about Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks also involved in a mega deal, but Melo has ridiculed such trade “rumors” on Saturday.
Anthony would have to waive his no-trade clause with the Knicks in order to enter talks with the Cavs. The Knicks in return would have received Timofey Mozgov in this case and draft picks, as reported by the Real GM.
“Not yet. I’m pretty sure I’ll have that conversation with myself and my family and my team,” Melo said after his practice session with the Eastern Conference All-Star Team on Saturday. “But it’s not a conversation for right now.”
So as of now, the Celtics are focused only on Kevin Love. Celtics and the Los Angeles Clippers were also considered as possibilities for Anthony.
The 31-year-old Anthony has said several times that he is committed to stay with the Knicks. On Saturday, he reiterated that he eyes an NBA title, according to ESPN.
“I want to win a championship. At this point in my career, that’s the only thing that I really care about,” he said. “But I’m not, I mean, there’s nothing out there for me right now. … I’m not even entertaining no trade talk right now.”
