It was rare four-team trade. The final outcome saw Rudy Gay and Courtney Lee land in New Orleans Pelicans. The trade included the Pelicans, Grizzlies, Celtics and the Kings.
Rudy Gay has gone a long way since his initial days when he was a miserable shooter. Gay has not only boosted his game, but also featured for Team USA. A player with all-round abilities, Gay could become a sensation with the Pelicans, who never had any fascinating player since Jamal Mashburn.
The 29-year-old forward paired with Rajon Rondo to lead the Kings to a win 104-94 over Toronto Raptors on Sunday. Courtney Lee is a player with both defensive and offensive qualities who is on an expiring deal. If Eric Gordon is moved he can get more playing minutes at New Orleans.
The Grizzlies lost Jeff Green and Courtney Lee in this deal; both have not shown consistency with Memphis. They gained Amir Johnson, a big man who can pair Marc Gasol. The Grizzlies have already benched Zach Randolph. Gordon can provide them with outside shooting they desperately required for a long time.
Jordan Mickey is a budding youth from LSU who can develop into a quality player.
