The Miami Heat traded Brian Roberts to the Portland Trail Blazers. The Blazers also acquired a second round draft pick from the Heat.
The Blazers will use their cap space to absorb Roberts’ salary. Miami Heat will benefit from the trade by saving salary and cap space. The Heat will move below the luxury tax bar which enables them to save $6 million, as per Real GM.
Miami acquired point guard Roberts from the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday on a multi-team deal. The Heat is likely to sign a free agent in the coming weeks after being reduced to a 13-men roster by trading off Roberts, according to Sports Blog.
Portland was more keen on acquiring future draft assets and reaching the salary cap floor by this deadline.
