Center Salah Mejri has signed for the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday.
Mejri is a native of Jendouba, Tunisia, and was featured in the 2012 London Olympics for the Tunisian National team. He was awarded MVP of the FIBA African championship, which Tunisia won to book its berth in the London Olympics.

Mejri played for the reigning Euro-league champions Real Madrid in the past two seasons. The 7-foot-1 center featured in 34 games in the Real’s bid to the Spanish League title and averaged 4.3 points and 2.1 rebounds in 8.6 minutes. The Tunisian was the first Arabic player to feature in the Spanish ACB League, widely considered as the second best basketball league in the planet.
The 29-year-old lifted those averages to 5.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 10.3 minutes in eight Euroleague games for the Spanish powerhouse. Real Madrid clinched the Euroleague title defeating Greek-power Olympiacos in the last game.
Mejri and his club Real Madrid clinched the “triple crown” of European basketball during the last season, winning the domestic league, the domestic cup, and the Euroleague. The Spanish Giants achieved the phenomenal feat for the 22nd time in the last 50 years.
Mejri’s experience in Madrid could help him to succeed in NBA with the Mavericks.
