Will the Chicago Bulls finally trade off former MVP Derrick Rose? Sources reveal that the Bulls are eyeing to remove Rose to initiate their rebuilding process.
It is also speculated that the New York Knicks, in their bid to bounce back next season, may rope in a star point-guard this summer to team up with All-star Carmelo Anthony.
And Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders pointed out that both the Bulls and Rose need a change of scenery. “It would not surprise me at all if the Bulls explore the Derrick Rose trade value because I think he leaves the Bulls as a free agent in 2017. I think once teams miss on free agents the Bulls could get real value out of Rose. I think both Derrick and the Bulls need a change of scenery.”
The Derrick Rose trade was also predicted ahead of the February deadline, but the Bulls refrained from it. Jimmy Butler is currently rated as the best player in the Bulls’ roster. Rose, though instrumental in winning few games for the Bulls, is considered unreliable now. The former MVP has often been riddled by injury. The Bulls are also linked to a possible Pau Gasol-trade.
The Bulls won 50 regular season games last season to enter the playoffs and won a series in the knock-out phase. Their series against the Eastern Conference winners Cleveland Cavaliers was a keenly contested one too.
According to Jay Patt of Blog A Bull, Chicago is now a “mediocre mess that’s primed for a change”. He feels both Butler and Rose are a concern for the team.
“The newly christened star player, who I’ve defended a lot, has become a corny diva who’s trying to figure out how to lead. The former star player (and my former favorite player) is unreliable” wrote Patt in his article.
