The trade deadline has passed, but Carmelo Anthony rumors aren’t over yet. Sources reveal that several teams will desperately try to sign the forward in the off-season.
Carmelo Anthony is under the radar of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, and Boston Celtics this off-season. Frank Isola of New York Daily News has revealed that the All-Star forward is an intriguing target for the three abovementioned franchisees.
“Several teams are expected to explore the possibility of acquiring Anthony this summer but that list of teams will be relatively small because Anthony has final approval over any trade.”
“Anthony would prefer to remain in New York but that could change if the Knicks season continues its downward trend and if Anthony sees little hope for the future,” as revealed by Isola.
A three-team blockbuster was proposed ahead of the February 18 deadline involving Anthony to Cavs, Kevin Love to Celtics and a few first-round picks to New York Knicks. The deal collapsed giving birth to new rumors that Melo didn’t let it happen. Anthony has vehemently denied the gossip, according to CBS Sports.
The Knicks are at the verge of missing out playoffs for the third consecutive year, and the Cavs are looking to pair him with buddy LeBron James. Melo could soften his firm stance of staying back at Knicks. Chances of Cavs pouncing on Anthony will increase if Kevin Love fails to live up to the expectations during playoffs.
The Chicago Bulls are asset-rich. They can trade Derrick Rose or Jimmy Butler to acquire the All-Star forward.
