Former assistant coach Alvin Gentry has left Golden State to take charge at the New Orleans Pelicans as head coach. Aside from this, 2014-15 NBA Champions Golden State Warriors have decided not to disturb their back room winning combination. Headcoach Steve Kerr on Wednesday announced Warriors’ coaching team for the coming season, in which its previous roster has been retained.
Luke Walton Replaces Gentry
Golden State also announced Luke Walton as Gentry’s successor to assist head Kerr. Walton is now at the verge of kicking off his second season at the Warriors’ bench as assistant coach.
Former Cal star Theo Robertson has been named video coordinator/player development.
35-year-old Walton featured in ten NBA seasons as a player. He has then worked as a player development coach for the D-League Los Angeles D-Fenders in 2013-14. Prior to that he was an assistant coach at the University of Memphis for the 2011 NBA lockout.
Jarron Collins was promoted to the position of assistant coach from his last season’s portfolio as player development coach, during which the Warriors’ registered a franchise record of 67 games.
