A Georgia mother who allowed her 16-year-old daughter and friends to drink alcohol, smoke marijuana, and play “naked twister” in their home has been sentenced to probation.
Sentenced to 12 months probation and a $100 fine for one count of Contributing Delinquency of a Minor, 35-year-old Rachel Lenhardt faces six years of probation and will have to pay $600 in fines.
As reported by WJBF, Lenhardt was sentenced under the First Offender Act.
She admitted to her Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor that the party she hosted in April last year caused her to lose custody of her five children. According to an AA sponsor unrelated to the case, the organization endeavors to tell the truth, which was why Lenhardt’s sponsor informed the police about her confession.
“We believe in honesty,” the sponsor said. “Most likely the sponsor will guide the sponsee to go ahead and take care of the issue.”
At the party, Lenhardt had allowed her daughter and friends to smoke marijuana and drink alcohol. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, a police report that shed light on the details surrounding the case alleged that Lenhardt took part in a game of naked twister, following which, she had sex with an 18-year-old in the bathroom. The report also said that Lenhardt fell asleep, and upon waking up found her daughter’s boyfriend having sex with her.
A lawyer for Lenhardt said in a report from last year that the mother has confessed she took part in inappropriate conduct as a result of consumption of alcohol, but several of the allegations brought against her have been allegedly exaggerated.
According to the statement, Lenhardt “is extremely remorseful for what she allowed to occur in her presence and is obtaining professional and pastoral counseling to ensure that this conduct is never repeated.”
