Drake is on his way to solidifying his mark in the music industry as he continues to smash records and build hype over Views. According to reports, Drake just scored the top spot on Billboard 200 and he could well keep the success going with the release of the “One Dance” music video out from Views.
Drake confirmed via Instagram that One dance will be the first track from Views that will be turned into a music video. The release of the video comes on top of the Hotline Bling bonus track and video release.
Drake took to his Instagram to explain why he was not able to attend the Raptors and Heat match during the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals.
“On set for ‘One Dance’ and it’s killing me that I am missing these games!!!” Drake wrote on his post before he sent out congratulations to the Raptors for beating the Heat.
According to Hot New Hiphop, One Dance could be considered the last single from Views since Summer Sixteen did not make it to the cut.
As the world is still trying to catch up with Beyonce’s release of Lemonade, it appears that the queen may have some fierce competition from Drake.
According to iDigital Times, Drake’s Views just sold over a million copies (along with streaming album equivalents) which could be mean the singer will eventually get his way to the top. It does not stop there.
According to reports, Views has been stream 245.1 million times already and that is just in the United States. The said feat also beat Justin Bieber’s Purpose record. Previously, Bieber got 100 million streams during the debut week of Purpose but it appears Canada’s own is now the reigning royalty in pop music.
Many expect Drake to shatter more records and earn more streams and album sales since Apple’s Music exclusivity ends on May 13.
Spotify, Amazon, Tidal and other streaming services are poised to offer the album soon as well. The historic sales run of Views is also prepping Drake to secure the best selling album of 2016.
