Thirty-two-year-old Amanda Peake Glover, a mother of four, collapsed and died after she completed a half marathon in Columbia last weekend. Glover, one of the participants among more than 1000 who ran the Palmetto Half Marathon, finished 133rd before she collapsed.
Amanda was rushed to a nearby hospital. She died moments later. Family and friends are mourning. All are concerned about the four children she had.
The reason of death is still not disclosed by authorities, though marathon death is quite common. Her funeral service will happen on Wednesday 4 p.m. at Spears Creek Baptist Church. She will be buried in the cemetery of the church.
It was not the first marathon for Glover, who had completed a full marathon just a month back with her brother Josh, who said, “It hasn’t completely hit me yet.”
He added, “I feel like I’m going to wake up from a dream. She ran the race of life. And when she crossed that finish line and passed away she crossed into eternity in heaven. And I do have that to lean back on.”
According to family members, the deceased was a happy person. She was the co-owner of a gym in Columbia called Fitness 535. She was also a choir singer in the Spears Creek Baptist Church.
