Miss Universe 2015 Review And Replay: The event started at around 5:15 AM with the swim suit round after which the names of top 10 contestants were announced. Who all made it to the list? Miss Colombia, Miss Japan, Miss Australia, Miss Thailand, Miss France, Miss USA, Miss Curaçao, Miss Venezuela, Miss Dominican Republic, and Miss Philippines were the lucky ones. After the announcement, the evening gown competition began at around 5:55 AM. As The Band Perry performed, the contestants walked the ramp in their evening gowns. Top 5 finalists were then announced by the beauty pageant’s host, Steve Harvey. This time luck favored Miss Australia, Miss Colombia, Miss Philippines, Miss USA and Miss France.
Then at around 6:15 AM began the question and answer round for the top 5 contestants. Based on this round, top 3 contestants were selected. Where Olivia Jordan, Miss USA was asked about marijuana, Miss Philippines and Miss France were questions about military and terrorism. The top 3 contestants were:
- Miss Universe USA Olivia Jordon,
- Miss Universe Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez
- Miss Universe Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach
To make the final decision easy, these contestants were then asked one final question – “Why should you be the next Miss Universe?” While one contestant answered, others wore soundproof head phones.
This was then followed by Seal’s performance of ‘Kissed by a Rose.’ Miss Universe USA, Miss Universe Philippines and Miss Universe USA walked the ramp once again while the singer performed.
It was now time for the announcement. The moment everyone has been waiting for. The winner was then announced. It was Miss Colombia. Last year’s Miss Universe winner then crowned her while the crowd went crazy. To everyone’s surprise, Steve Harvey came back on the stage and apologized for the mistake. What mistake? Miss Colombia was the first runner-up, and Miss Philippines was the actual winner. Watch the video here:
But all’s well that ends well! Our hearty congratulations to Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, Miss Universe Philippines for taking the crown home after 42 years.
