If you think a glitch fix for polar bears was the only giveaway from Minecraft this week, then you’re mistaken. Mojang’s official announcement on its website confirmed the release of a new mini-game that engages gamers in a PVP mode in a fight for survival.
Minecraft ‘Battle’ doesn’t require crafting, inventories can be found everywhere
According to Mojang, “The Battle pits players against one another in a fight for survival, as they race to snatch weapons and resources from chests, dance over each arena’s unique perils and stave off hunger pangs.”
The release also said that a maximum of eight players can experience the game online, and four players when played on a split-screen.
An IGN reports said that the mode was inspired by Hunger Games, immersing players into a deathmatch. The game’s round will initially last for five minutes; if, unfortunately, you are taken down by your opponent, you can act as a spectator, roaming around the world. The images revealed show the battles and the environment. Mojang also confirmed that the release of the initial trailer is right around the corner.
If you’re wondering how much the new Minecraft mode costs, it is a staggering $0.00. “Battle” will release this June for free, so gamers will be able to download it as an update along with “three incredible, deadly arenas.” But its upcoming maps will be priced at $2.99 with support from Microsoft.
