Miley Cyrus is the new coach of “The Voice” season 11. While fans of the singer rejoice, some of “The Voice” viewers think Demi Lovato or Taylor Swift would have been the better choice.
UPDATE: The Network later announced that both Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys will come in as Season 11 judges. They will be replacing both Pharell Williams and Gwen Stefani. “The musical expertise and energy these two incredibly talented women will bring to the show is remarkable,” Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night programming at NBC Entertainment, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled that they’ll be joining Adam and Blake in what we know will be a magical 11th season.”
Gwen Stefani lost the spot many assumed to be hers. TMZ reports that the former “Hannah Montana” star is getting the chair. Producers giving the highly coveted role, which is currently held by Christina Aguilera, to Cyrus instead of Stefani, reeks of controversy. How Stefani will react remain to be seen.
According to TMZ’s own sources, Cyrus was given the key spot because she appeals to the desired TV demo. This also means Shakira was sidelined. Cyrus is now the only female on the panel, joining Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Pharrell Williams.
Cyrus’ Facebook page confirmed the news. “It’s true! I am going to be the newest judge on Season 11 of The Voice#thevoice ❤watch me mentor and then season 11 shit is gonna go offffff! I can’t wait!” the status post reads. She announced the same on her Twitter account.
Fans received the news warmly. Some of the commenters said with this development in the show, they wills start watching “The Voice” again. “Yeah..i like MILEY CYRUS to become a judge in the incoming season of The Voice..because she has a brilliant voice..honestly being judge in The Voice it doesnt mean that you’re having a good quality of voice..the important there is on how to train your artist during competition..but anyway im bet with Miley Cyrus and also shes my idol even she changed her looks now a days” one fan said.
There were of course, also some who did not like the idea. They think Taylor Swift or Demi Lovato would have been the better choice for a judge/coach.
