Microsoft Expected To launch Xbox One Prototypes, Filings With FCC

Microsoft and Sony seem to be at loggerheads with each other. While the console war is heating up, Sony released an upgraded PlayStation 4 last week. Microsoft, on the other hand, is reportedly testing a variety of prototype Xbox One devices.

The Redmond-based tech giant is working on upgraded components to improve and enhance the performance of its PC gaming machine. While rumors have been the source of information, recent evidence of announced filings with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released by Microsoft confirm the application of components used for building an upgraded Xbox One, reports Tech Times.

Microsoft Xbox chief Phil Spencer gave hints to the media that the Redmond company is interested in creating an “Xbox One and a half.” He said, “If we’re going to go forward with anything, like I said, I want it to be a really substantial change for people-an upgrade.”

It is true, console manufacturers do not favor prototypes of PC games. Adding worries to woes, Spencer recently announced that he isn’t a big fan of the idea of a console upgrade, according to IGN. However, recent rumors from NeoGAF user, ekim, suggests two filings with the FCC that reveal Microsoft is testing a new Xbox One wireless chip with a new model number.

Right now, there are no photos of the new Xbox model to support the document, but external photos and other details are kept intact in a non-disclosure agreement between the FCC and Microsoft.

It should, however, be noted that the agreement is valid until June 25, after Microsoft’s Xbox press conference at E3 this year. The prototypes in question are meant to improve performance of a PC gaming rig. Although there’s no report to sugge

st the exact launch date of an upgraded Xbox One, Phil Spencer said that the company will, “come out with new hardware capability during a generation,” reports The Verge.
