Memories Pizza, one of Indiana’s pizza shops, has been criticized by Yelp users for stating it will not deliver pizza to any gay wedding as a response to Religious Freedom Restoration Act that will take effect on July. The announcement has not been taken well by customers and even those far from Indiana.
The Yelp page of Memories Pizza had not seen much response before the statement supporting the religious freedom bill. The pizzeria is now down to a 2-star rating. People called them “hypocrites.” Quality of the food was not in their minds at all.
Saying that they will not supply food to gay weddings, Memories Pizza mentioned it will still supply food to gay people who would come inside the store. The co-owner of the pizzeria mentioned he is not discriminating among people but would like to strengthen one’s religious belief.
It was earlier reported by The Verge that the pizzeria’s Yelp page has received more than 1,700 reviews, almost all negative. However, if one would visit the page, he or she would see that there are now not more than 500 reviews left, as the website may have removed such that failed to meet content guidelines.
Apart from that, a new domain has been registered mocking Memories Pizza. It is yet to see how the company reacts to such criticism.
