Melissa McCarthy came out as the first celeb to give her support to Jennifer Aniston for her scathing essay that slammed tabloid culture and body-shaming women.
The “Ghostbusters” reboot star Melissa McCarthy criticized the way women were treated in the entertainment industry, in comparison to their male counterparts. This is the same opinion highlighted in “For the Record,” an op-ed for Huffington Post penned by Jennifer Aniston.
“Everybody needs to stop tearing down women,” Melissa McCarthy told ET Online.
Melissa McCarthy also had her “Lemonade” moment as she made an appearance at the “Today” show on Tuesday. The comedienne was there to promote “Ghostbusters” reboot. The actress looked radiant in a yellow cocktail dress for the occasion.
The mum-of-two, Melissa McCarthy has been upping her glam quotient in a series of looks for the “Ghostbusters” promotional tour for the past month. Her cocktail dress featured long, blouson sleeves, round neck, pin tuck detail near the bust and waistline, People reported. She paired the look with yellow snakeskin T-strap heels and dark oversize sunglasses.
She also wore the naked dress at the “Ghostbusters” reboot premiere at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles on Saturday. She was joined by her husband Ben Falcone and walked the red carpet together. The actress who has her own clothing line named Melissa McCarthy Seven7, collaborated with Judy B Swartz and Daniela Kurrle for the custom creation.
Melissa McCarthy gave 1950s vibes in the dress put together by her stylist Judy and Daniela. Her see-through dress featured round neck, three-quarter length sleeves, sheer overlay, nude hued slip, and yellow floral embroidery. It also had a fitted bodice and flared skirt that was cinched in at the waist with a slim yellow belt.
“It’s an elegant version of new and old Hollywood. And the takeaway from that [premiere] look for any woman is not to be afraid to experiment and to always keep your look evolving,” said Judy, who collaborated with the star on looks for the film’s pre-release press tour, speaking to Hollywood Reporter. The “Mike and Molly” star’s more than 70 pounds weight loss was evident in the beautiful floral confection.
“Ghostbusters” hits theaters on July 15 (Friday).
