We all think it wouldn’t happen, but it will. Homer and Marge Simpson, known for the long-running animated series “The Simpsons,” will “legally separate” during next season, which airs in September.
Producer Al Jean confirmed the news to Variety.
“In the premiere, it’s discovered after all the years Homer has narcolepsy and it’s an incredible strain on the marriage. Homer and Marge legally separate, and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who’s voiced by Lena Dunham.”
There is no clear indication as to how long the separation would last.
“The View” host Whoopi Goldberg playfully reacted to the news.
“Homer, what about a sister? In the time that I’ve seen you, I’ve never seen you with a black woman. Or maybe Marge is just a light-skinned sister and they haven’t said it.”
The next season of “The Simpsons” is set to return on Fox on September 27. So far, there are still zero signs that Harry Shearer, voice of multiple characters in the show including Mr. Burns, will return.
