Yes, Microsoft is now turning your TV into an eCommerce store with the help of Xbox One. With this eCommerce store, Xbox One owners will be able to ditch queues in shopping centers. How? The Mall is the answer.
Microsoft is launching an app with the help of a TV e-commerce company based in Dublin, Von Bismark. To turn your television into a shop, the company is is bringing three technologies together:
- An app called “The Mall” with virtual wardrobe technology
- Motion-tracking camera of Xbox One’s console, Kinect
- PowaTag app
The Mall – How does this technology work?
With this new technology, Xbox One users will be able to browse for clothes on their TV sets. They can even try them on in real time before purchasing. And if everything goes well and you decide to buy a particular dress or garment, you will be able to buy it with the help of the PowaTag app. You will get a QR code on your screen which should be scanned for payment. This system is compatible with both iOS and Android. These devices will then store your shipping as well as payment details. So you need not enter the details using Xbox One controller. Right now, selections from a few stores are available for shopping. Style PB, SoccerPro, Go2Games and Grayers are the only stores selling clothes on Xbox One’s eCommerce store via The Mall.
Eoghan O’Sullivan, CEO of Von Bismark, said, “The Mall on Xbox One is the first giant step in our vision to create more beautiful, physically engaging ecommerce experience, delivered through the largest piece of visual real estate you own – the living room TV. The Xbox One is the perfect device to launch on – it’s incredibly powerful, built for smooth interaction and with the Kinect camera we can bring you as close to physically trying on the clothing as you will ever get when shopping online.”
The Mall is an interesting technology that has full potential of changing the face of eCommerce and online shopping. Let us know see how many people put this technology to use and how comfortable they are with The Mall.
