President Barack Obama’s elder daughter Malia Obama is once again in the news, and this time, it’s for her friend Rapper Taylor Bennett, who has been tested positive on two drug tests in the weeks that led up to their party weekend.
In August, a video emerged that showed the president’s daughter smoking cannabis cigarette at the Lollapalooza gig in Chicago. Malia was photographed with Bennett the weekend she was caught smoking.
The court documents showed that the rapper had undergone two positive drug tests in the weeks before the controversial weekend, the Radar Online reported. The screenings were carried on July 6 and July 13, 2016, and both the tests were positive for “THC50,” which is a test for marijuana.
Bennett was also accused of beating a man in 2014 so brutally at a party that he was left with “bleeding on the brain.” In April he pleaded no contest to aggravated battery/great bodily harm and is currently on probation.
Bennett’s younger brother, Chance was also put on probation and had to submit to random tests following the incident. He was also required to deliver 40 hours of community services.
The Social Service Department requested at a hearing this week that the Malia Obama pal “be screened instanter” moving forward, which means he will not be forewarned before screening in the future.
Bennett, whose father is a former aide to both Obama and Mayor Rahm Emanuel, is expected to return to court in February 2017.
The president’s 18-year-old older daughter first sparked off controversy by choosing to attend the concert in Chicago over Democratic National Convention. She was later photographed twerking in a tight fitting tube top and shorts at the event. Next in the line was the video that showed her smoking up cannabis.
“I caught Malia smoking pot and I have the pictures to prove it,” a witness was quoted as saying by the Mirror.co.uk. “You could smell the marijuana smoke.
