The region of Sabah in Malaysia was hit by a magnitude 6.0 earthquake early Friday morning.
Though not part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, Malaysia is often hit by earthquakes.
According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers with an epicenter at 19 kilometers off Ramau.
There were no early reports of damage and tsunami warning.
Sabah was last hit by a 6.2 magnitude earthquake 39 years ago, in Lahad Datu with a depth of 33 kilometers.
