Lyft, Inc. has figured out a way to improve their service using a little algorithm work. What this means is that even if you are already expecting a ride, once you have requested a Lyft Line, Lyft will still continue to find another passenger who has a route that works with yours better. And should this happen, Lyft will give you an Express Re-route.
You will know that you have been re-rerouted because Lyft will send you a text message that says, “We just updated your ride to a more efficient route.” It may pick you up around the same time, but the fact that you have just been re-routed means that you will spend less time traveling in the car.
BuzzFeed reports that the Express Re-Route feature for Lyft Line was actually rolled out without much buzz. But company spokeswoman, Katie Dally, has said that the company hopes to be quick and efficient when it comes to service.
Recently, Lyft also announced that customers are entitled to $5 off two rides when they ride to or from certain airports till Labor Day.
