A deadly combination of smartphones and 3G has given us the power to watch almost everything from TV to our favorite games on the go. As the technology advances, each company tries to deliver users something that the competitors can’t. Live streaming was a product of the same.
Periscope, an app developed by Joe Bernstein and Kayvon Beykpour, is one of the leading live streaming apps today. With more than 2 million active users, the users are said to be watching videos that count up to 40 years of life.
How did Periscope progress so fast?
Launched in the first quarter of 2015, when other startups struggle to get noticed in the initial stages, this app has already managed to book a seat on the top list. Immediately after the launch, the startup was purchased by one of the social networking giants, Twitter.
The social media giant soon connected this service to Twitter, making it more popular by allowing people to see the live stream if the link has been tweeted by another user. It helped the app become popular almost overnight. Periscope ranks 8th most popular app on Google Play, according to App Annie.
Here is the data released by Periscope itself:
Technology that allows you to keep yourself entertained as well as allow you to entertain others by connecting to people is always welcomed. Live streaming is one such technology. When people see real-time events, why would anyone want to go to other video sites and watch videos that would soon be termed as outdated?
Live video streaming is catching up faster than expected and it is definitely going to be the next most happening thing on internet.
