The 23 year old Liam Payne became a trending topic on Twitter after the announcement of a new US record deal.
Being One Direction’s key-member, Liam has a huge fan base who are highly passionate. But his ardent followers believed that the singer was going to become a father because of the hashtag ‘#CongratsLiam’.
This became a trending topic and fans got all the more confused as they had in belief that Liam’s girlfriend, Cheryl, may have confirmed the rumoured pregnancy.
Fans of ‘One Direction’ rushed to wish Liam on social media, after learning about the news of his new deal with Republic Records in the States. As the news of the deal broke out, the trending topic on Twitter was ‘#CongratsLiam’.
Whereas, the late comers to the party were left bewildered as they mistakenly believed that Liam might have confirmed the rumours about him and Cheryl expecting their first child. After initial reactions where some almost had a ‘heart attack’, the air was cleared about the confusion.
According to Daily mail, some of the tweets during the confusion read as:
@LynaStoessei joked: ‘#congratsliam I had i little heart attack because i thought this hashtag confirm that Liam will be a dad [sic].’
@ProudLiLoGirl wrote: ‘That moment when you come on twitter, then you read #CongratsLiam and think @LiamPayne confirmed he’s gonna be a dad.’
The confusion got such a buzz because of the rumour about Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole expecting their first child which had surfaced a week earlier.
The rumour further dates back to September, when the Now magazine reported, “Cheryl’s never been more determined to have a baby. It’s like it’s the only thing in the world that matters to her.”, and added, “She’s never been so focused on something. Cheryl has a stash of pregnancy and motherhood books she’s always reading.”
This entire episode raised more eyebrows when Liam changed his bio on the Official Twitter account to quote that he was “the happiest man in the world”.
