LG has unveiled a new pair of affordable smartphones aimed at emerging 3G markets including those in Latin America, Europe, Asia, and the CIS. The L Fino and L Bello are what LG calls “alternatives to higher-priced smartphones, perfect for teenagers and first-time smartphone owners” and are targeted at both first-time smartphone owners and teenagers.
Both phones feature 8-megapixel rear cameras, quad-core processors, and some of the company’s range of UX features handed down from LG’s higher-specced phones including the flagship LG G3 including Touch & Shoot, Gesture Shot, Front Camera Light, Knock Code, and support for the LG QuickCircle Case.
The smaller of the two new devices, the L Fino measures only 127.5 x 67.9 x 11.9mm and features a 4.5-inch WVGA IPS display at a screen resolution of 800 x 480 pixels which gives it a pixel density of 207ppi. Its quad-core processor runs at 1.2GHz and is joined by 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a VGA front-facing camera, and a 1,900mAh battery. The L Fino will come in White, Black, Gold, Red, or Green depending on the market.
On the other hand, the larger L Bello measures 138.2 x 70.6 x 10.7mm and is equipped with a 5-inch FWVGA IPS display at a similar resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. While it keeps the same amount of RAM and internal storage as the L Fino, the L Bello runs a slightly faster quad-core processor at 1.3GHz, a larger battery at 2,540mAh, and a stronger 1-megapixel front-facing camera. The L Bello will come in White, Black, or Gold. Additionally, both devices run Google’s latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system.
“With their competitive specs and accessible pricing, we have high hopes for the L Fino and L Bello to continue our successful expansion into emerging markets,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Our newest L Series smartphones represent the best of LG in design, hardware and UX as well as our commitment to bringing best smartphone experience to 3G customers as many as possible.”
Both the L Fino and L Bello will be available first in select regions within Latin America this month, with countries in Europe, Asia, and the CIS to follow. Specific availability dates and prices will be announced locally for each region at the time of launch.
