Until yesterday, we were not sure which LG handset will be launched at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona this year. However, the South Korean Company has confirmed that it will launch the LG G5 on February 21, ahead of the MWC event, starting February 22 till February 25.
Earlier, dignitaries from the IT circuit were sent out press invites by LG for the MWC 2016 event, but no further details were mentioned in the note about the launch. Recently, the tech giant took to Facebook to mention about its imminent release. It posted on the social media, “Come meet the new friends on the playground. LG G5 Day.”
It seems that February 21 is going to be a significant day as the tech world will see new releases from Samsung: the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Those interested in attending the LG G5 launch event should gather at the Sant Jordi Club in Barcelona, reports NDTV.
LG is expected to steal the spotlight from Samsung’s Galaxy S7 with its dual-camera system and stunning design. New renders reveal that the handset will come with a dual-LED flash that determines maximum accuracy in pictures taken. As for the other aesthetic details, the volume buttons will appear on the side and you can spot the circular power button on the back of the phone. The highlighting part is that the power button also works like a fingerprint sensor, reports GSM Arena.
According to previous reports, the device will have features similar to any smartphone, with different readings and a few slight changes in design. It will feature a Ticker Display of 5.5-inch size with 160×1040 pixel resolution. Some of other rumored specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32GB inbuilt storage and Android 6.0 Marshmallow software.
