A number of LG handsets have been receiving updates for the past weeks, including the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. This time, according to reports, Verizon LG G3 and G4 units now have access to a March security update.
Verizon has released its newest Android security update for the following units: LG G3 and LG G4. According to the update details, the latest firmware bumps up the Android security patch level to March 1 and also “provides faster display response from a sleep state.” The update for the LG G3 unit comes via software version VS98547A while the LG G4 update comes via software version VS98625A.
However, as with similar updates from Verizon, users are advised to wait for the notification. The update is being rolled out but may take some time to reach all devices. Nonetheless, those who are impatient can always choose to update manually. Do this by opening the Settings menu of the handsets and checking for update options.
Verizon also advises users to connect their devices to a secure and reliable Wi-Fi network or cellular connection to make sure nothing goes wrong. All devices are recommended to be charged fully to avoid interruptions.
According to UberGizmo, it is great news to see that even older generation hardware is still getting support from their mobile carriers and manufacturers. The updates help extend the longevity of the LG units. This is especially helpful for users who are still not amenable to upgrading their devices every time or every year a new flagship is introduced.
For more information on the update mentioned, users can head over to Verizon’s official support page. For other Android updates, it is best to check the final schedules and available rollouts from respective regional units and mobile carriers.
