New images and details of Lenovo’s next flagship smartphone were leaked from one of the company’s internal events.
Externally, the Vibe Z2 Pro shares the same blocky shape of its predecessor along with the black front bezel and the grey rear shell. However, the Vibe Z2 Pro will feature a full aluminum unibody that measures only 7.7mm thin whilst the original Vibe Z only had a plastic body. The front of the Vibe Z2 Pro features a 6-inch quad HD IPS touch display with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1330 pixels bringing the device’s pixel density to 490ppi. The rear of the phone features a 16-megapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilization and a dual-LED flash capable of shooting, other than photos, 1080p videos at 30fps. Additionally, instead of the Lenovo logo, the VIBE logo will take the rear center logo spot on the Z2 Pro.
Under the hood, the Vibe Z2 Pro features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core SoC (system-on-a-chip) which consists of a 2.5GHz Krait 400 CPU and an Adreno 330 GPU. The phone’s chip is partnered with 2GB of RAM. As for storage, the Vibe Z2 Pro will have 16GB and 32GB variants with support for expandable storage of up to 32GB via microSD card. The Vibe Z2 Pro will also be able to support up to 2 SIM cards. As for connectivity, the new smartphone will be LTE-capable as well as support Wi-Fi 802.11 dual-band a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC.
The Vibe Z2 Pro will be powered by a 4,000mAh battery and will run Google’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system. The source of the leak did not reveal any information on the pricing and ailability of the Vibe Z2 Pro but the new flagship smartphone is expected to be officially announced and released sometime in the third quarter of 2013.
