Lenovo Unveils The Yoga Tablet 2, Comes in Either Windows or Android

Lenovo Unveils The Yoga Tablet 2, Comes in Either Windows or AndroidLenovo announced today the sequel to its uniquely designed tablet the company co-designed with actor Ashton Kutcher – the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2.

With the new Yoga Tablet 2, Lenovo has decided to give consumers the option of choosing the operating system they want their tablet to come with by making the new tablet available with either Windows 8.1 or Android 4.4. Lenovo has also kept the same 8-inch and 10-inch choice of screen sizes for the Yoga Tablet 2.

While the Yoga Tablet 2’s design is pretty much the same as its predecessor, it now features an improved kickstand which gives the new tablet a fourth ‘mode’ aside from its original three (hold, tilt, and stand). The new mode, called ‘hang’, enables the Yoga Tablet to be hanged on walls or other places. Additionally, the Windows version of the Yoga Tablet 2 comes in Ebony while the Android version comes in Platinum.

The specifications for both the Windows and Android version of the Yoga Tablet 2 are pretty much the same. They feature Intel’s latest Intel Atom processor which is expected to perform better than the original Yoga Tablet’s MediaTek chip. Both also feature dual front speakers with Dolby Audio and Wolfson Master HiFi as well as an 8 megapixel rear camera and the option for 4G connectivity to add to the devices dual band WiFi capability.

“Our second generation YOGA Tablets give users the freedom to do more – go hands free and hang the tablet from the wall with the new Hang mode; get unparalleled sound on a tablet with loaded audio features; and  choose the operating system that’s right for them – Android or Windows,” said Jeff Meredith, vice president, Marketing, Lenovo Mobile Business Group.

The Android versions of the Yoga Tablet 2 will be available starting October 9 through the Lenovo online store with prices starting at €299 (around $377.58) for the 10-inch variant and €229 (around $289.18) for the 8-inch variant. The 10-inch Windows version of the Yoga Tablet 2 will be available sometime in late October via Best Buy with prices starting at €399 (around $503.86) while the 8-inch Windows variant will be available on the Lenovo online store starting sometime in November with prices starting at €249 (around $314.44).
