Laker Rumors: It seems like the Los Angeles Lakers are ready to sacrifice future building blocks for instant victories. This was the same trade proposed during the offseason. At the time, the Sacramento Kings wanted Julius Randle and D’Angelo Russell for DeMarcus Cousins.
When Lakers chose D’Angelo Russell with the No 2 pick, there was a feeling that the Purple & Gold have found the long term replacement for retiring legend Kobe Bryant. However, those plans haven’t worked out as desired for coach Byron Scott and the Lakers.
Come Christmas time, the Lakers starting lineup could feature Demarcus Cousins – Larry Nance Jr – Kobe Bryant – Lou Williams – Jordan Clarkson.
After benching Russell and Randle during yesterday’s defeat to Toronto Raptors, Scott plans to persist with his plans. This is a clear indication that the young duo can be had by other teams.
According to Yahoo Sports, the decision to bench Russell is puzzling since it was Byron Scott’s decision to pick Russell ahead of Jahlil Okafor in June’s NBA Draft. Stay tuned for Lakers Rumors.

Russell, the rookie from Ohio State, feels he has ‘nothing to prove’ to coach Scott. “I’m not trying to show him (Scott) anything,” the rookie said after the loss to Raptors. “I’m really trying to show myself and my teammates that I belong out there, not the coach. Because they’re looking to me for the play, not past me to him for the play. It’s a growing experience.”
Russell reckons it’s not easy to please everyone, especially while playing for a losing team. “It’s real tough trying to make everybody happy as a young point guard. It’s even tougher because you’re not really getting an opportunity to learn from your mistakes. Coach is making his decisions, and I just ride with it.”
League sources reckon that Demarcus Cousins is getting increasingly frustrated in Sac-Town where the 7-15 Kings are desperate to ring in changes. For more than a year, the Cousins trade rumors have picked up steam, especially since the all-star Center’s recent altercations with coach George Karl.
