DeMarcus Cousins may be busy preparing with Team USA for the upcoming Rio Olympics but the trade rumors continue to swirl on “Boogie.” Several teams have been linked but thus far nothing has come close to a potential deal.
The Boston Celtics were previously among the top teams on his track but all that may have died with the acquisition of Al Horford. The two play similar positions unless Cousins would end up playing the center slot.
So if not the Celtics, why not the Los Angeles Lakers?

Cousins admits that the Lakers were his favorite team growing up. The Lakers have been home to the greatest big men the NBA has had so a stint could work to his benefit. That list includes Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Shaquille O’Neal.

Cousins Fond Of Randle
Aside from that, a possible reason for Randle to consider LA would be the young core. D’Angelo Russell, Brandon Ingram and Julius Randle were among the neophytes who practiced with Team USA and the vets were impressed.
For Cousins, Randle often asked him for advice to become better. That included when to score and where to position himself on the hardwood. Cousins believes Randle has the tools to be a good player moving forward, the Lake Show Life reported.
“I think he has all the talent, I think he has all the abilities, it’s just about figuring out the game and putting it all together,” Cousins said. “And once he figures that part out, he’s gonna be a scary player in this league.”
Mentoring The Young Lakers possible?
The Sacramento Kings are not entertaining trade offers at the moment but anything is possible. The Lakers are shaping up to be a worthy destination and Cousins could be a good fit.
That covers not only his talent but as a mentor to the rising forwards head coach Luke Walton has. It may not crop up now but could pop up once again once the 2016-17 NBA wars kicks off.
