Could it be possible that after all these years, we are living in a huge computer program? It may sound absurd, but according to reports, this is not a far-fetch idea and billionaires are funding a research that would ultimately ‘free’ humanity from the so-called simulation.
An article from the New Yorker surfaced revealing that some Silicon Valley billionaires are behind a plan to investigate this possibility. But the article did not name or reveal the identities of these highly-secretive billionaires.
We’re Living in ‘The Matrix’ World
“Many people in Silicon Valley have become obsessed with the simulation hypothesis, the argument that what we experience as reality is in fact fabricated in a computer; two tech billionaires have gone so far as to secretly engage scientists to work on breaking us out of the simulation,” the report noted.
But it can be recalled that during the Code Conference 2016 in Ranchos Palos Verdes, California, in June, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors and SpaceX said that there’s a possibility that humans are nothing but living entities in a game created by an advanced civilization.
Although the probability of the entire humanity living in a big computer program, similar to that of the simulation as portrayed in the popular sci-film ‘The Matrix’, still, it’s a possibility.
Project to ‘Free’ Humanity
Based on a report from the Independent, Musk has donated a large chunk of his riches to identify the dangers of artificial intelligence (AI) and how human civilizations would be put in danger if his predictions are true.
“The strongest argument for us probably being in a simulation I think is the following. 40 years ago we had Pong – two rectangles and a dot. That’s where we were. Now 40 years later we have photorealistic, 3D simulations with millions of people playing simultaneously and it’s getting better every year. And soon we’ll have virtual reality, we’ll have augmented reality,” Musk was quoted as saying by the Independent.
Musk’s prediction was also backed by an analyst from the Bank of America who said that there’s a 50 percent chance that we are actually living in a The Matrix-like world and that all our human experiences are all products of this massive AI simulation, a separate report from the Independent showed.
