Kanye West said he is definitely running for the 2020 presidential elections. He said he will spend the next five years studying and growing up to be the ideal presidential candidate that he can be.
“I’ve got five years before I go and run for office and I’ve got a lot of research to do, I’ve got a lot of growing up to do,” West told the Vanity Fair in an exclusive interview. He shared that his father has two masters degree and his mom has a PhD.
He said the more he gets involved in the process of creativity, with regard to his Yeezy Season 2 collection, the closer he gets to whom he was as a child. He remembered coming with her mom at Operation PUSH. All these made him realize that “it’s time” to do something bigger, like running for the White House seat.

West, however, has a very ideal concept of the election. He desires to eradicate the concept of separation and competition among would-be fellow candidates. ““When I run for president, I’d prefer not to run against someone. I would be like ‘I want to work with you,’” he said.
He further explained that all people running right now have something that each of the others needs but they are separated by competition. He said this should not be the case since the world needs all people in a position of power to come together.
“I hate politics. I’m not a politician at all. I care about the truth and I just care about human beings. I just want everyone to win,” he said.
Out of the presidential candidates that the country has at present, West has words of praise for Ben Carson. “As soon as I heard [Ben] Carson speak, I tried for three weeks to get on the phone with him. I was like this is the most brilliant guy,” he said.
Asked whether he will stop rapping or designing when he run in 2020, West said he cannot. “This is my theory: I think the world can be helped through design, so it’s very important that I stay around creative, forward thinkers.”
