Actor Jim Carrey said he was “shocked” over the death of his former partner, Cathriona White, who was discovered dead in her home in Los Angeles on Monday night.
Carrey, who met White in 2012, said he was “deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona.” The two met on a film set. White had moved to California in 2009, as reported by the Irish Times.

In a statement, Carrey expressed sorrow over White’s passing. “She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled,” he said. “My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.” Carrey posted a picture of himself on social media that he credited to White.
White was found dead is what is being suspected as an overdose, as reported by BBC. While the death is being treated as suicide, no official determination has been made yet. “The report is not completed, but it is an apparent suicide,” Lt. Fred Corral of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office said. The body will be sent for an examination.
White wrote her last tweet on Friday, wherein she said she was “signing off” from Twitter. “I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest,” she wrote.
