The Utah Jazz were hammered by the Portland Trail Blazers at Salt Lake City last night. Jazz bounced back on Thursday to pull off an impressive 96-84 win over the Denver Nuggets.
The Nuggets remained without a win in their second home game. Gordon Hayward scored 20 points to lead Jazz. Rudy Gobert had eight points and 16 rebounds. Trevor Booker also added 13 points to the winner’s tally.
Denver took control early in the game and led two points at half-time. It was Danilo Gallinari who led the Nuggets once more with 18 points.
Utah toiled hard to take a 65-64 lead in the final quarter. And slowly, they took control by outplaying Nuggets. Rodney Hood and Hayward dropped consecutive 3-pointers to complete a convincing 12-0 run, which swung the game in Utah’s favor. Jazz led 90-73 in the final quarter.
”It was good to kind of get out of it,” said Hayward after guiding his side home by shooting 7-of-13 from the field. ”Still not there at all with where I want to be but the rhythm is starting to get there.”
The Nuggets will be visiting Golden State Warriors on Friday night. Denver signed F Kostas Papanikolaou on Thursday by waiving G Erick Green.
Alec Burks and Trey Burke added 12 points each for Utah as they outshot their opponents. Jazz now hosts Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.
