Rumors have it that the 18-year old is now dead, after he took his own life. Why did the son of Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith commit suicide? Why?
No matter how viral the news became on social media — we will never know why Jaden Smith committed suicide.
This is because to know the answer to that question, he should have took his own life first.
Jaden Smith however, is alive and well. Those who believed the news though may now not be…feeling so great though.
The thing is, the news, even though it claimed to be a “CNN News Update” did not come from a legitimate source. When users clicked on the link, they will be presented with a popup message requesting permission from a certain Facebook app to posts on your behalf. This makes the news less of a hoax, but an actual scam!
But why would such a death hoax emerge? Did Jaden Smith rub someone the wrong way? Did the scammers think Jaden Smith had such avid fans that they would be tempted to share the fake news report on Facebook, compared to say, other teenage stars?
According to Snopes, those unfortunate individuals that clicked on the link were presented with various news stories of Jaden Smith dead, Jaden Smith suicide and many more. How industrious of the site to go great lengths in creating these bogus stories and circulating them.
Clickbait stories such as celebrity death hoaxes have become quite common for hackers and dubious apps to spread malware. Clicking on them can be potentially dangerous, if not annoying!
True Jaden Smith fans though would know instantly that this death news is a hoax, after all, Jaden Smithhimself just updated his followers with a photo on his Twitter on July 28, unaware that the Internet already killed him.
